Letter from Sunflower/Denise/Sundown

Git that cigarette outa your mouth Sunflower!!! Crikey how many times did you hear that??? I have to tell y'all though, these southern gals smoke at the freeking gas pumps!! Holy Moly!! They knew I had issues about it, just never saw it happen before. I do have to say, ya got the best patch going on yur vest though. I will be making some VILR patches. ya want one???

Sunflower and I have known each other from WWR forum for about a year. I can't believe it is only that length of time. Sometimes ya just get a feeling about people. I had her pegged. She was a hairdresser. I was too. I had the same bike, only a 750. Same saddle bags. I dunno, we hit it off right away in my eyes. I had chatted with her a couple times over the year. To me she told it like it was, and so did I. She is one caring gal, and would give ya the gloves off her hands if she thought you were cold... and she did.

If'n I remember correctly this is Sun before she went down, ...so she was still a Flower, not a downer... Kidding girfriend. You are one of the most up beat gals I met. A true pleasure indeed... even when ya went down, you were up!!! ya didin't dwell on nuthing!!! I am hoping you wont be mad at me, telling the story of Sundowner. What the hell, would they call me... Flo5downer...lmao!!

This Pic is just before we slayed the Dragon. We were heading in that direction and the road leader UEee took a U-turn, as he kinda got lost for a sec. Sun was so worried about Flo as I went past the gang.. I had to U-turn in gravel, on a slight hill. Was so afraid to go down, it took me awhile. Then along comes Sun...
Ya okay Flo???

And then... that is when I started calling her SUNDOWN, instead of SUNFLOWER. She really is a flower more than a downer. Perky gal, and her accent KILLS ME!! She Rocks!! Miss ya sista!!

That would be Sunflower second from the right!! She had slayed the Dragon before, but not on the same bike. What a great supporter she is to everyone. She put her bike down before the Dragon, and some of us did it after the Dragon. None of us did it during the Dragon. My biggest fear. We joked about how many times we heard our floor boards scraping.

This pic was taken on my last day with her. I hate last days. This gal made me laugh. Especially in the morinng. Sundowner was an appropriate name, she didnt like gittin outa that bed.. One night on Wolfies Mountain ,, we stayed up until 1am.. On the freeking puter, bloggin, posting, she was trying to help me remember my password.. Remember Sun..... it was fun!!!

But damn girlie, ya hate getting up early!!! What I really dont get is ya still lookin good when ya get up!!

Sunflower/downer, has her own forum, and this is what she posted:

I meet a lady on the WWR...Women Who Ride forum, her name is Flo. She lives in Canada, during the winter months her and her husband head to Mexico to their house there. Her husband is a fisherman in Alaska.

Flo wanted a new bike and found one in Tampa, Fla. From Motorman and Doc Donna...who do the Ride Like A Pro DVDs.

Flos plan was to fly to Fla...stay with the Paladinas, learn how to ride her NEW to her Road King by taking the ride like a pro course from MM and Donna. Which she done wonderfully.

WWR is a world wide forum on delphi...women riding from everywhere....we all put together a CONGA for Flo...whoever lived in the state she was going thru, would meet up with her and escort her as far as they could go to the next stop.

The WWR member would pick up where the last left off.
I had the opportunity to ride with Flo on May 22nd, I met her and Vi from Savannah, Ga in Madison Ga. And we rode to Ellijay, Ga, spent the night with another WWR lady, got up Friday the 23rd, rode to Murphy, NC, rode the Dragon, and some other nice roads in the mountains. We spent the night in Murphy with a WWR lady, which she had a cookout in Flo's honor.

SAt 24th, me and DH rode back home. It was very hard to say GOODBYE to my new dearest friend that I had only physically know for 2 days, but have talked to her on the forums for over a year. I knew she would be in good hands on her next adventure heading to Canada.

Flo made it thru 18 states in 3 weeks...AWESOME! She posted to us every night to let us know where she was for the night and her plans for the next day. She has rode in every find of weather there is out there....Extreme heat, hard rain, winds, Cold and alittle snow...shes a trooper!

The ladies back in Canada had contacted the news out there, and they wanted to do a story on Flo as she got back into Canada...so here is the news clip of her almost home! She started the Go with the Flo Conga on May 21, 08, and got home June 9.
To Flo...you are a inspiration and my hero!!!! You ROCK GF!!!!

If anyone would like to see her pictures thru her trip click here...to see different folders, click on WWRCONGA at the top...
